Luanda – Angola are exempt from the first round bout to qualify for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) taking place from February 1 to 28, 2025, in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, according to the draw held on Wednesday, at the headquarters of the African Football Confederation (CAF), in Egypt.
The national team, champion of the Cosafa Cup, played this year in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, will only compete in the 2nd round, having as opponent the winner of the Lesotho-Namibia game.
Still for the 2nd round, Mozambique and Zambia will face each other, while the Madagascar team, also exempt from the first round, await the winner of the Zimbabwe-Eswatini game.
The host Uganda are also exempt from the first round, awaiting the winner of the Burundi-Somalia game.
The games in the first knockout leg of the continental tournament reserved for home-based players will start between the 25th and 27th of this month, while those in the second round will play between the 1st and 3rd of November.
However, the challenges of the first leg matches, for the 2nd round, will begin between the 20th and 22nd of December, while the second leg matches will begin between the 27th and 29th of December.
