Luanda - Angola is on the list of countries nominated for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) award in the category of best national team of 2024, Angola Football Federation (FAF) said Thursday on its official Facebook page.
In addition to Angola, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan and Uganda are competing for the title.
The Angolan champions Petro de Luanda are also in the running for the prestigious award in the club category.
The Angolan team face competition from the TP Mazembe (DRC), Al-Alhy and Zamalek (Egypt), Dreams FC (Ghana), RS Berkane (Morocco), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Simba and Young Africans (Tanzania) and Esperance de Tunis (Tunisia).
Angola national team head coach, the Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, is also on the list of 10 nominees for the category of best men coach of the Year 2024.
For the second year running, the city of Marrakech will host the CAF Awards ceremony on December 16.
