Luanda – Angola beat Tunisia 35-23 on Wednesday, in the first round game of Group B of the African senior women's handball championship, starting the competition with the aim at revalidating the title.
The game was played in the pavilion of the Mártires stadium sports complex, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Angolan Vilma Nenganga was awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP) on the Field.
On Thursday (28), Angola will play Uganda, at 3pm, in the second match of Group B.
Marta Alberto, Eliane Paulo and Helena de Sousa (goalkeepers), Albertina Cassoma, Estefânia Venâncio and Liliane Mário (pivots), Azenaide Carlos, Juliana Machado and Marília Quizelete (right back), Naíria Caquintas (left wing), Dolores do Rosário and Natália Fonseca (right wing), Chélcia Gabriel and Helena Paulo (playmaker), Bernardete Belo, Magda Cazanga, Vilma Nenganga and Stélvia Pascoal (left back), made up the national team.
The team is coached by the Spanish Carlos Viver.
