Luanda - The senior men's national handball team on Wednesday, in the city of Cairo, beat Nigerian 26-24 in the first round of Group D at the 26th edition of the African Nations Championship taking place in Egypt.
With this victory, the Angolan squad, coached by Filipe Cruz, are off to a good start in the fight for access to the next stage of the continental competition, in which 16 countries are taking part.
Angola will play again on Friday at 1pm with Kenya.
In the previous African Championship, in 2022, the country came eighth.
