Luanda - The National Football Team held their last training session in Luanda on Thursday, showing preparedness for the game with Lesotho, on Saturday, as part of the first-leg game of the last qualifying round for the 2025 African Nations Championship for home-based players (CHAN), set to take place in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, from 1 to 18 February.
The National team trained at the Angola Football Academy (AFA) field, and are morally ready for the game that will take place in Durban, South Africa (field borrowed by Lesotho) and according to coach Pedro Gonçalves, the team has good ratings for an overwhelming result
Speaking to the press, he said he has a group ready to play well and is aware of the difficulties to face, as many of the players are not used to being together with others, but their good physical shape justifies their presence among those elected.
“CHAN is as important as any other competition, and we are going to play for a good result and face the second game with the same responsibility”, he stressed.
In turn, the forward from Sagrada Esperança da Lunda Norte, Dabanda, stated that the work went smoothly, as the objective is to triumph in the first leg, and get closer to qualification, he said.
However, he considers it an increasingly competitive group, as everyone is part of the list of the best chosen by the coach, however, each player seeks to make their contribution and gain a place on the team.
Lito from Kabuscorp do Palanca, stated that expectations are always higher, but if it is an option, he intends to maintain his usual commitment to contribute to the victory.
Regarding the Lesotho team, he explained that the Portuguese coach has passed on various images, technical and tactical information about the opponent, to the entire team in order to take precautions during the match.
The new chairman of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Alves Simões, followed the training session, together with Carlos Alonso “Kali” and other members of his squad.
