Luanda - Angola has won a total of 162 medals of gold, silver and bronze in individual sports, since the beginning of this year, including gold, in African and world championships.
As a result of these achievements, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Rui Falcão, announced a paradigm shift, with individual sports benefiting from special attention.
According to the minister, who was speaking Friday at a meeting with journalists to exchange ideas, held at the Sports Academy, in Luanda, it is necessary to improve the training conditions of these sports.
He said that many athletes in these conditions train without the appropriate demands, and it is necessary for the federations to reverse the situation.
Rui Falcão said it is necessary to look essentially at the grassroots work, instead of what happens today in which the focus is on international competition.
'The issue of individual modalities being a separate case is already over, as a result of which they are now having another level of attention,' he reiterated.
He acknowledged that individual sports are the greatest promoters of the raising of the national flag on major sports stages. DJ/MC/DOJ
