Luanda - Angola national sailing team revalidated its African title in the Optimist Class, in the team regatta, in a race that ends Saturday, in Vitoria city, (Seychelles Islands), the Angolan Nautical Sports Federation (FADEN) said in a statement on Friday.
The achievement is the result of the determination and dedication of the sailors, clubs and technical team, the statement said.
The podium was completed by South Africa (silver) and Tanzania (bronze).
In 2019, again in Seychelles, Angola won the individual title with athlete Româncio Paulo, and the team title in both genders.
The national team is made up of sailors Paulo João, Francisco Cândido, Laureano Simão, Pedro Paulo and Marisa João. Moisés Camota (coach) and Rui Albuquerque (head of mission).
The Minister of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), Rui Falcão, congratulated the Angolan team on this achievement, underlining the determination and dedication of the athletes and technical team. IN/MC/TED/AMP
