Luanda – The Angolan athletes increases its medal count to nine in the Lilongwe Region 5 Games, in Malawi, after the National Gymnastics Team ended their participation by winning 4 medals, which are 2 silver medals by teams and 2 bronze medals in individual competition.
The national team which won the silver medals comprised the athletes Asser António, Daniel Cassule, Pedro Sacupuepua in male category and by Angelina Elias, Evalina Dachala e Samba Mahula in female category.
Regarding individual competition, Asser António and Samba Mahula won the bronze medals.
Taekwondo was the first sport to win medals for Angola in the competition with three gold won by Isabel Nlevo (-63 kz), Aminata Ngoma (-52 kg) and Luzia Madureira (-68 kg) and the silver medals were won by Marineth Fernandes (-55 kg) and Clinton Baptista (-59 kg).
The National Women's Basketball team U-16 will face today the Zimbabwe National team at 3 pm, for the second round, after beating Zambia 79-42 in their first game.
The National Men's Basketball team Under-16 will face today the Zimbabwe National team at 3pm for the second round, after beating Zambia 79-42 in their initial game.
On the other hand, The National Men's Basketball team will face Zimbabwe National team on Tuesday.
This is the third match of the coach Jaime Covilhã´s athletes, who beat Zambia (69-45) in the opening round and the hosts Malawi (78-43) in the second round.
Swimming is also on the stage this morning, with elimination rounds, and the finals will be played in the afternoon.
