Luanda - Angola has climbed two places in the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) rankings, released Thursday by the governing body of the sport in the world.
In a list led by Argentina, with 1855.2 points, Angola occupies 92nd place in the overall FIFA ranking and 20th in the Confederation of African Football (CAF), with 1248.93 points.
A 1-0 win against Eswatini and a 1-1 draw with Cameroon in the double qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup enabled Angola to achieve this position.
The best-placed team in the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) is Cape Verde, in 65th place in the FIFA ranking and 13th in the CAF ranking, with 1380.54 points, followed by Equatorial Guinea in 16th (1308.75) and Angola in third place.
In the world ranking, France is second, with 1845.44 points, and Belgium is third (1798.46).
In the CAF zone, Morocco remains in first place, 13th in the overall FIFA ranking, followed by Senegal (18th), Egypt (36th), Côte d'Ivoire (37th) and Nigeria (38th).IN/MC/AMP
