Luanda – Angola national senior women’s basketball team beat Zimbabwe , 105-41, in the second round of group A qualifying for FIBA Women’s Afro basket 2023, being held in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, following a defeat in the opening round.
After suffering an unexpected 52-74 defeat to Mozambique on Tuesday, Angola showed a different disposition, despite facing a less stronger opponent than the previous one.
Cristina Matiquite was Angola’s team top scorer with 18 points, after having done the same in the previous match (16 pts), while Zimbabwe’s Tadiwa Mabika was the top scorer of the match with with 19 points.
Angola face Zambia on Thursday in the third and final round of the initial phase.

The event will be played in two legs, in the round robin system, with the team that scores the most points over the six matches qualifying for the final qualifying round for Afrobasket 2023 to take place in Rwanda.
The continental event, to be held from 28 July 28 to August 6 in Kigali, Rwanda, will have 12 participating countries, with five of them emerging from the final qualifying round.
