Luanda - The Angolan national football team travelled this Sunday to Lisbon bound for Cabo Verde, where Thursday (16) they will face their local counterparts in the first qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup.

The group D match will be played at 8 pm (Angola time), at the National Stadium in Praia.

With the same objective for the second round, the national team will face Mauritius on the 21st of the current month in the city of Saint Pierre, Madagascar.

In this World Cup qualifying competition, to be played for the first time in three countries (USA, Canada and Mexico), the first-placed team in each of the nine groups qualifies directly, while the four best runners-up play-off for the last of the ten African places.
