Benguela - 1º de Agosto thrashed Estrela do Palácio 48-15 on Saturday in the 5th round of the National Senior Women's Handball Championship taking place in Benguela.
1º de Agosto had no trouble imposing their game leading 23-3 at half-time, against an opponent that was fighting to leave the bottom of the table.
In the second half, the Estrela do Palácio tried to turn the tide at times, but they didn't have enough strength and ended up losing 48 - 15.
Speaking in the post match press conference, 1º de Agosto coach Carlos Viver, said his players were dynamic and very quick in the first half, which allowed them to create a comfortable result.
"We wanted to win the game to finish top of the group," he said, adding that his team has been working since January and is now very confident.
Estrela do Palácio coach, Sérgio Baptista, on his turn said 1º de Agosto team is a much superior opponent, so the aim was to score and not concede so many goals.
He explained that, despite not getting a single win, he still thinks the result will come, although recognizes that a lot of investment and groundwork has to be done for this to happen.
