Luanda – National Under-16 men's basketball team finished fourth in the African Championship of the category (Afrobasket2023), after losing to Mali 56-63 on Sunday in Monastir, Tunisia.

Despite this result, the Angolan team, led by coach Jaime Covilhã, improved three places compared to its last participation in 2019 in Cabo Verde, where they finished seventh.

During the 2013 edition in Madagascar, Angola won the continental event.

Among the women, the Angolan team, under the leadership of Francisco Chauangue, won the bronze medal, after their victory over Tunisia 50-43.
