Huambo - Several eucalyptus seedlings were planted, on Saturday, in the Académico neighborhood, in the interior of the city of Huambo, by workers from the Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) Delegation in the Province of Huambo.
The campaign aims to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the country's only news agency, to be celebrated next Wednesday (30 October).
At the occasion, the director of Environment and Sanitation of the municipality of Huambo, Leonardo Pompeu, praised ANGOP's gesture, which, among others, contributes to the fight against climate change, in addition to influencing citizens, in general, to embrace the planting of trees.
The official asks the news agency company to carry out more campaigns of this kind, with the involvement of different areas of society, as the environment belongs to the entire population, who must contribute to the afforestation of the city of Huambo.
In turn, the ANGOP delegate in the province of Huambo, Aurélio Janeiro Sacalei Soi, said that the campaign is part of the challenges of protecting and safeguarding the environment in this region, which aims to be an ecological city in the country.
He added that the initiative also aimed to put into practice the news released daily, with actions aimed at encouraging institutions and people not to cut down trees, to avoid deforestation.
ANGOP was created in 1975 and in 1991 it chose to broadcast his work 24 hours a day.
