Ramiros - The First Lady of Angola, Ana Dias Lourenço, on Friday in Luanda, defended everyone's involvement in preserving the environment, in order to instill in the current generation values of its importance.
Speaking at the opening of the mangrove planting program, Ana Dias Lourenço considered the state of the environment to be alarming, stressing the need for Angolans to change their behavior.
In the presence of more than 200 children who took part, the Vice-President explained that global warming, which is currently taking place, is the result of human action, due to pollution of the seas, indiscriminate cutting down of trees and the emission of carbon dioxide, among other actions that are harmful to the environment.
Ana Dias Lourenço added that through the "Wheel of Love" project, further 16,000 mangroves have been planted involving children aged 5 to 14, to enable them to realize the current state of the environment and instill the importance of preserving it.
"Adults need to change their behavior, but we need to instill in the new generation good attitudes towards defending the environment," said Ana Dias Lourenço.
According to the First Lady, climate change, such as droughts, floods and global warming, is the result of man's actions, which is why children need to be educated to reduce the use of plastic, use water and energy rationally and plant trees.
Ana Dias Lourenço expressed her satisfaction with the project to plant mangroves throughout the country, which began in 2017.JJD/VM/DAN/AMP
