Caluquembe – Five hundred trees of different species were planted, on Sunday, by young people, students and staff from the Caluquembe's municipal administration, province of Huíla, an action that is expected to reach two thousand by the end of November.
The activity being held under the auspices of the local administration was carried out along National Road 354, for a length of three kilometers, as part of the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of national independence marked on November 11th.
Speaking to ANGOP, in the district, regarding the activity, the deputy administrator for technical services and infrastructures, Ildefonso Camilo, stated that trees of the jacaranda, eucalyptus, cedar and acacia species are being planted.
He highlighted that the plantation aims to reforest the municipality, mainly in the new neighborhoods, an action that is transforming the town's landscape.
He said that at this time the Caluquembe administration has created a nursery to support the reforestation program.
The municipality of Caluquembe is 193 kilometers north of Lubango, and has an estimated population of 243,788 inhabitants,.
