Luanda - Members of the ruling MPLA party’s parliamentary group promoted Tuesday in Luanda a cleaning campaign on the seafront of Amélia beach, ahead of the National Environment Day to be celebrated on Wednesday.
The campaign, meant to contribute to the mitigation of solid waste in that bathing and fishing area, was conducted with the technical support of the Luanda’s Cleaning and Sanitation Company (ELISAL).
Large amount of garbage had been removed from the site, especially plastic and glass items.
According to the coordinator of the initiative, MPs Carla Cativa, the campaign served to draw attention to environmental causes and create favorable conditions for marine species, as well as for humans.
