Luanda – Roughly 145 million kwanzas will be spent by the National Biodiversity and Conservation Institute (INBC) in the implementation of sensitisation programmes on wildlife conservation, especially endangered species, a project dubbed Top10+1.
The information was given to ANGOP this Monday, in Luanda, by the project’s co-ordinator, Hilária Valério, who highlighted that the project is to be implemented by stages, and it will include the presentation of videos, mobilisation and awareness campaigns.
She revealed that, in this stage, the project is counting on the financing of the oil company Sonangol and other partners.
The environmentalist stated that the objective is to raise people’s awareness on ecological and biological importance of the species and influence state authorities on the issue.
She also reminded that the action of humankind (such as poaching and degradation of habitats) have been directly affecting the continuity or existence of certains animal species in Angola.
“The biggest problem is the commercial activity in itself, because if it was only the susbsistence hunting communities we’d not have major problems”, she clarified.
The TOP10+1 project was launched in April this year.
