Moçâmedes - Angolan minister of Environment Ana Paula de Carvalho Wednesday in Moçâmedes, south-west Namibe province, announced more support for programme to combat desertification in the municipality of Tômbwa.
Speaking at the end of her 48-hour visit to the region, the minister announced that the 118,000-tree and 18 kilometer perimeter Tômbwa forest curtain will be inserted in the climate change programme.
The objective, she said, is to reduce carbon dioxide.
Ana Paula de Carvalho said the programme to combat desertification, as the forest curtain, apart from acting as protection from the sandbanks, it also aims at reducing the emission of pollutant gases.
The minister also made a call that each citizen contributes to the preservation of the environment.
She also praised the initiative of the Namibe government in the construction of landfills.
