Talatona - Journalists from public and private media outlets on Monday, in Luanda Province, were trained in environmental sustainability issues.
The aim of the training programme, organised by a banking institution, was to equip professionals with the best tools to deal with issues related to Sustainable Development (SDGs), as well as to enable them to improve their knowledge on topics related to writing about the environment, which is a topic considered sustainable in society.
They also strengthened their skills in the basics of the topics covered, the environment and its impact on society.
The seminar, given by economic sustainability experts with many years of experience, on the theme of ‘Pact with Impact’, is part of the bank's training strategy.
Addressing the topics at the Workshop on Environmental Sustainability, exclusively for journalists, the Director of Corporate Citizenship at Standard Bank of Angola, Rosemarie Luís, spoke of the importance of the media in informing and publicising sustainability, as well as in transforming citizens' awareness of environmental and social issues.
“As a bank, we could not be left out of this agenda that concerns everyone and Angola obviously”, she emphasised.
She also said that the aim of the training was to present a debate on the 10 environmental issues that are making headlines in Angola, namely water, energy, waste, soil, biodiversity, forests, spatial planning, population, climate change and sustainable development.
The event was attended by 24 professionals from 16 national media organisations.
However, the event is also taking place at a time when Angola is one of the countries committed to achieving prosperity and sustainable growth through the reforms implemented by the Government in various areas.
