Luanda – The Expo Recycle is an excellent opportunity to show Angola's capacity to deal with the waste it produces, the Environment Minister Ana Paula de Carvalho has said.
The minister made the statement at the third edition of Expo Recycle opened Saturday in Luanda, underlining that the event also makes it possible to show the level of companies, waste picker cooperatives and young entrepreneurs working in this field.
For the minister, the expo is also an excellent opportunity to establish partnerships in the same business and different sectors.
In her opinion, the current edition, which ends Sunday, is an important milestone in the fulfillment of the annual event, with the aim of presenting the recycling business in Angola.
The minister highlighted the work carried out by the National Waste Agency (ANR), in partnership with civil society players, namely environmental protection associations, private companies, as well as young people and children, in the reuse and recovery of waste.
Ana de Carvalho took the opportunity to praise the participation of public companies and banks which, in some way, bring prestige to the event.
Despite the greater representation of participants this year, the minister challenged ANR to bring all the provinces together for the fourth edition in 2025 to present society with an overview of everything that has been done to recover waste.
The first edition took place in 2021, with the participation of 50 exhibitors and over a thousand visitors. The second, in 2023, saw a larger number of visitors and exhibitors, with a turnover estimated at over one hundred million Kwanzas. SJ/OHA/MRA/AMP
