Cabinda – Angola’s minister of the Environment Ana Paula de Carvalho defended, over the weekend in Cabinda, the preventive fight against ravines, as well as the joint work between various sectors to put an end to this problem.
To the official, the problem of ravines in the country must be looked at in a different way by the provincial governments, which must unite synergies with the ministries of the Environment and Public Works, Urban Planning and Housing, taking into account the seriousness and damage caused by these geographical accidents.
Speaking at the closing of the 1st Consultative Council of the Ministry of the Environment held in Cabinda, the official said that important matters were discussed, where the sector's strategy for the five-year period 2023/2027 was reviewed.
In detail, she added, the main axes of environmental sustainability, biodiversity and conservation areas, environmental education, climate change, environmental technologies and the state of the environment in the 18 provinces were discussed.
The minister also pointed out the need for closer work with universities, civil society organizations and other sectors on scientific research issues in search of a solution for waste management and the process of generating jobs, family income, among others subjects.
In the final communiqué, the participants defended the creation of conservation areas, infrastructure and improvements to the bureaucratic system in carrying out licensing for environmental organisations, despite the reinforcement, still insufficient, of the management system applied in most provinces.
