Doha – Angola and Qatar discussed Sunday the perspective of implementing cooperation in combat desertification during a meeting the Angolan Minister of Environment, Ana Paula de Carvalho had with her counterpart Abdullah Al Subaie.
During the meeting that preceded the celebration of Angola’s National Day at Expo Doha, the minister expressed the Angolan government's intention to receive Qatar's support in mitigating the advances of desertification, given this country's experience in this field.
Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the minister said the two sides discussed biodiversity in Angola, conservation areas, wetlands, climate change and the quality of air, soil and water.
Angola aims to exchange experience with Qatar, taking into account this country’s positive progress in these areas, the Angolan official said, stressing that Qatar has expressed willingness to cooperate with the Southern African nation.
Minister Abdullah Al Subaie did not make any statements to the press.
Regarding Angola Day at the Expo, the minister welcomed the organization of the event, having considered the country's participation in this horticultural exhibition successful.
“We are in an excellent pavilion, very well crafted, presenting various aspects of our rich fauna, flora, biodiversity, and conservation areas”, the minister said.
Expo 2023 Doha opened in October 2023 and ends on March 28. More than one hundred countries participate in the event.
Angola inaugurated its pavilion on November 14, 2023.
