Cela – A total of 29,615 family farms received technical training to improve and increase agricultural production in rural areas, as part of the Family Farming and Commercialization Development Project (SAMAP), implemented since 2018 in Cuanza Sul province.
According to the provincial program coordinator, Jorge Pina, the SAMAP has made it possible to set up 90 community banks, which turn over more than 80 million kwanzas, as well as legalizing 47 cooperatives, creating 626 Field Schools (Eca), training 491 facilitators and 40 trainers.
Pina said the beneficiaries of the program are farmers from the municipalities of Amboim (Gabela), Cassongue, Cela, Conda and Quibala.
The deputy director-general of the Institute for Agrarian Development (IDA), Tarciso Baptista, pointed to SAMAP as the project that stands out the most in terms of support for family farming in Cuanza Sul.
SAMAP has been running since 2018 and is scheduled to end in September this year. LC/QCB/AMP
