Sumbe – The first edition of the agricultural production fair of the Commercial Agriculture Development Project (PDAC), which began Thursday, in the municipality of Quibala, province of Cuanza-Sul, brought together 126 exhibitors who will exchange commercial experiences for three days and establish new business partnerships.
Under the motto ‘Promoting commercial agriculture to boost the agricultural market’, the fair has exhibitors from Cuanza-Sul, Cuanza-Norte, Huambo, Malanje, Huíla and Bié, in an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
Among the products displayed at the Logistics and Distribution Center (CLOD) in Quibala, the highlights are corn, beans, cassava, potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, peanuts, cabbage, cabbage, sugar cane, carrots, coffee, palm oil and cocoa.
At the opening of the fair, the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock, João Cunha, said that it is an event where exhibitors have opportunities to exchange information and transform it into a kind of business exchange.
He recalled that the Angolan Government and the French Development Agency designed the PDAC with the aim of increasing the production of corn, beans, soybeans, coffee, sweet potatoes, potatoes, eggs and chicken, as well as improving access for beneficiaries to different areas of the project, in the provinces of Cuanza-Sul, Cuanza-Norte, Huambo, Malanje, Huíla and Bié.
For her part, the vice-governor of Cuanza-Sul for the Political, Economic and Social sector, Emília Tchinawalile, recognized the commitment of farmers and ranchers in the production and supply of products for the country.
PDAC has been installed in the 12 municipalities of the province of Cuanza-Sul since 2020 and has so far financed 31 business projects, of the 165 registered, worth 1 billion 583 million 447 thousand 189 kwanzas. PDAC has already made 60 million euros available nationally. LC/QCB/DOJ
