Saurimo - The secretary-general of the Angolan Women's Organization (OMA), Joana Tomás, called on Friday for a greater investment in family farming, with a view to accelerating and strengthening food and nutritional security.
Joana Tomáswho was speaking to the press, in Saurimo, , at the end of the three-day work visit to Lunda-Sul province, Joana Tomás stressed that investment in family farming, with machinery for mechanisation and other inputs, will contribute to increasing production, allowing satisfactory levels of domestic consumption.
She encouraged women to invest in agribusiness, taking advantage of the potential that the province of Lunda-Sul has.
On the other hand, she called for greater openness of banks in granting credits to promote agriculture practiced by women and others.
In the province of Lunda-Sul, Joana Tomás visited agricultural fields in the municipalities of Dala, Saurimo and Muconda, as part of the "Kudima" project.
The "Kudima" project, an initiative of the OMA, aims to give greater visibility to the work of women in rural areas, especially in the agriculture sector.EM/JW/HD/TED/DOJ
