Dundo - More than three thousand peasant families in the north-eastern province of Lunda-Norte are involved, this year, in the first phase of the program to promote Arabica coffee production.
The information was provided today, in Dundo, by the director of the Provincial Office of Farming and Fisheries in Lunda-Norte, José Mendes, according to whom the program will cover the province's ten municipalities.
He said that in this 1st phase, municipal administrations, depending on the seedlings they receive, must prepare at least 3 to 5 thousand hectares.
He highlighted that the number of families involved could increase to 5 or even 6 thousand, with the condition created, above all, with the expansion of cultivation areas, with the goal being to reach 100 thousand hectares in all municipalities, for the cultivation of 87 thousand seedlings.
He informed that the municipalities of Cuilo and Caungula have already received 18 thousand seedlings, for the production's kick off.
The first phase of this program to promote coffee culture, in the province of Lunda-Norte, involves the municipalities of Cuilo, Caungula, Capenda-Camulemba, Lucapa and Cambulo.
