Moçâmedes – The acting governor of Namíbe, Ema da Silva, announced on Monday that, at least 1,943 hectares of land were identified, in the town of Caraculo, municipality of Moçâmedes, for agricultural and livestock production.
Ema da Silva, who was speaking at a technical meeting between the Moçâmedes administration and the residents' committee, said that as part of the fight against hunger and poverty, the Angola Executive identified areas in that locality for the practice of agriculture and livestock, in order to contribute in the economic development of the province.
She said that of the identified land, 1,450 hectares will be allocated to farmers for agricultural production and 493 for livestock.
"We are currently working on the process of legalizing the spaces for interested parties and the conditions have been created in terms of agricultural means and inputs, such as tractors, implements, motor pumps, fertilizers, among others” she assured.
The province of Namíbe is responsible for cattle, sheep and goat farming, while in agriculture it has 90,000 hectares for the current agricultural campaign, which involves 49 thousand peasant families and large farmers. FH/FA/ASS/CF/DOJ
