Huambo – The Angolan government, under the National Youth Production Support Programme (PROJAPRON), is to deliver this month arable land titles to 385 young entrepreneurs in the farming sector, in the central Huambo Province, with the aim to leverage their activities, said Thursday in this region the executive secretary of the Provincial Youth Council (CPJ), João Lara Macuva Hotalala.
The official said that this is an initiative supported by the local government to facilitate access to bank credit for this social segment and increase employment, adding that is also part of the Young Producers Intervention Movement project in Huambo Province, which involves 35 young people from each of the 11 municipalities that make up this region of the country.
He said that the lack of a land concession title and difficulties in processing the necessary documentation have been the main constraints for farmers in the province to access various types of funding.
João Lara Macuva Hotalala said they were entrepreneurs who were already producing on identified plots of land up to five hectares and other young people from poor families, with the aim of boosting agribusiness in the region, with a focus on employability.
He said that this is a praiseworthy initiative by the Huambo provincial government, which would encourage young people to engage in entrepreneurial activities in the farming sector, which currently have self-employment as their main challenge, in order to support their families, study and build their own homes.
PROJAPRON, an initiative of the National Youth Council (CNJ), was launched in the year 2020.
