Saurimo – The authorities of the Province of Lunda-Sul foresee a harvest of 570k tons of several products in the 2024/25 agricultural campaign, representing a 70k increase compared to the previous season.
The information was provided on Tuesday, by the provincial agriculture and fisheries office in Lunda-Sul, Nelson Senguetali, highlighting that the campaign, which is scheduled to open in October, will involve 56,544 peasants organized in cooperatives and associations.
He made it known that 84,614 hectares of land are available in the 4 municipalities (Cacolo, Dala, Muconda and Saurimo).
Nelson Senguetali stressed that in addition to cassava, vegetables and fruit crops, the authorities will pay special attention to promoting cereal production, with emphasis on rice.
To this end, 100 tons of rice seeds are available, which will be handed out free of charge to cooperatives and individual farmers.
