Uíge – Angola’s National Coffee Institute (INCA) plans to produce 1.2 million coffee seedlings this year in the province of Uíge, as part of the program to promote the production of this crop in the region.
In the province of Uíge, INCA controls 9,849 coffee producers.
Speaking to ANGOP, on Friday, the head of the INCA Department in Uíge, Miguel Camoxi, said that, last year, the institution distributed 553,000 coffee plants to 189 producers.
For this year, he said that the institution will reinforce the delivery of working tools and other support materials to local coffee producers.
Regarding the poor coffee harvest (4,006 tons) last year, he explained that it was due to the drought that considerably affected production.
He also pointed out the lack of financing for producers and the poor condition of access roads as factors that coffee growers are debating. NM/JAR/DOJ
