Icolo e Bengo - The III Technical Council of the Institute of Agrarian Development (IDA) defended, today, the need to institutionalize the instruments of intervention in rural areas, to allow their regulation.
This desire was expressed by the participants, at the closing of the two-day event, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo under the motto 'Family farming, the bulwark of the economy and food security in Angola'.
The technicians also recommended the identification of policies that allow improving and aligning the implementation of the different programs to support family farming, in order to meet the needs of farmers.
Regarding the rural extension program, they are of the opinion that it deserves a reformulation, so that the extension and integrated rural development service for family farmers is guaranteed.
According to the participants, the process for approving the tensionists' card, which is essential for the implementation of the extension and rural development program, should be resumed.
With regard to the collection of information in rural areas, the IDA should resume the system of monitoring and evaluation of agricultural campaigns, create a central data processing system, centralized in the Institute, as well as improve the system of communication and dissemination of statistical data.
The training of staff in agricultural statistics was also re-commended.
During the two days of the event, farmers, ranchers and technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, discussed, among other topics, the 'Information collection system in rural areas', 'Statistical data processing' and 'Paradigm of projection of agricultural years'. AJQ/DOJ
