Benguela – The city of Benguela on Thursday hosted a workshop on the policy (II cycle) for the elaboration of the National Strategy for the Reconversion of Agri-Food Systems in Angola 2026-2035, an initiative of the Provincial Office of Farming and Fisheries.
Public Consultation Methodology, Ensuring National Food Security and Promoting the Inclusion of Equitable Livelihoods, are the topics addressed during the meeting.
According to the vice-governor for Political, Social and Economic Area, Cátia Cachuco, there is an urgent need to renew the Government's efforts to promote a resilient, inclusive and sustainable agri-food system, which is an essential pillar for the development of Angola.
She informed that the workshop aims to ensure broad participation of the main stakeholders in the process of formulating proposals for public policy instruments, to improve the actions of the teams that structure social services in rural areas, especially in the most vulnerable communities.
Cátia Cachuco said that the results of this workshop will be used as a "tree" for the creation of physical and political instruments, in order to achieve the development of the agricultural sector.
Members of the government, traditional and religious entities, agricultural associations, cooperatives and municipal directors of Agriculture and Health participated in the Workshop.
The National Strategy for the Reconversion of Agri-Food Systems in Angola 2026-2035, aims to transform the country's agricultural system.
For this strategy to be a success, it will be necessary a political commitment, allocation of adequate resources, partnerships between the government, private sector and civil society, investment in agricultural research and development, strengthening of institutions supporting agriculture and promotion of policies to encourage the development of the agricultural sector are necessary.
