Lubango - A thousand families from the municipalities of Gambos in Huíla Province, Curoca in Namibe Province and Ombadja in Cunene benefited this month from an equal number of hermetic drums, intended for grain conservation, within the scope of the Strengthening Food Resilience Program in the South of Angola (FRESAN).
The distribution was in charge of the respective municipal administrations and covered 400 families in Gambos, the same number of families in Ombadja and 200 families in Curoca, aiming to strengthen food security and promote sustainable practices.
According to a note from FRESAN that ANGOP had access to this Monday, in Lubango City, the drums allow the safe storage of up to 200 kg of grains, a tool that helps in conservation, due to its durability, guaranteeing families the possibility of selling cereals when prices are more favorable.
FRESAN is an initiative of the Government of Angola financed by the European Union and co-managed by Camões, I.P. which aims to contribute to the reduction of hunger, poverty and vulnerability to food and nutritional insecurity in Cunene, Huíla and Namibe.
Mainly through strengthening resilience and sustainable family agricultural production, improving the nutritional situation of families and supporting capacity-building in institutions.
