Lubango – A total of AKz 2.8 million were made available, on Thursday (12), by the United Nations Food Fund (FAO), to ten Field Schools in the municipality of Jamba, in the southern province of Huíla, as part of the promotion of local production.
The initiative of the Food Fund of the Nations (FAO), within the framework of the Program for Strengthening Resilience and Food Security in Angola (FRESAN), which aims to provide rural schools with the means for their normal functioning.
The information was made official by the FAO coordinator in Huíla, Jandir Fins, highlighting that the implementation of field schools has been carried out in recent years at the province level and follows several implementation methodologies.
He highlighted that this phase is one of the most important, in which a symbolic monetary value of AOA 280,000 (US$300) is delivered to each of them, in the different locations of the municipality, a non-refundable amount from the so-called start-up fund.
He stressed that it is a reinforcement for each of them, with a view to helping with the agricultural activity that they have carried out, but also boosting them with the aim of sustainability.
In turn, Fernando Dungula, representing the other members of the field schools, thanked them for the support, as it will give a great boost to increasing production, with the purchase of seeds and various means of work, as well as the opening of wells water to irrigate crops.
However, Jamba's municipal administrator, Luís Marcelo, who attended the act, urged the beneficiaries to allocate the money to the purposes for which it was donated, such as the acquisition of seeds, fertilizers and other means of agricultural production.
The Municipality of Jamba, with an area of 12k square kilometers, is 315 kilometers east of the capital of Huila and has an estimated population of 142,361 inhabitants, according to the INE projection for 2024.
