Menongue – The Menongue municipality administration, in the province of Cuando-Cubango, delivered to peasant families, at least, 12 tons of corn, pennisetum glaucum, Sorghum and rice seeds to peasant families in the communes of Jamba Cueio and Caiundo, to increase productivity in this agricultural season.
The seeds were delivered by the Menongue municipal administrator, Roberto Biwango, and for the commune of Jamba Cueio, there were 5 tons and Caiundo 7, including hoes, machetes and other equipment.
In total, around 19 thousand peasant families, grouped in agricultural associations and cooperatives, benefited from seeds and agricultural inputs.
At the event, administrator Roberto Biwango encouraged beneficiaries to cultivate the distributed seeds, so that the production serves as a livelihood for all families and, in this way, guarantees food security for local communities.
He praised the family farming that the associations and cooperatives of agricultural community networks are practicing, hence the municipal administration's commitment to distributing more agricultural inputs, with a view to boosting production and productivity.
According to him, the delivery of seeds and agricultural inputs confirms the importance that the Government attributes to communities in the exercise of agriculture, an action praised by the acting administrator of the Jamba Cueio commune, Domingas Bongue, as the support came at a good time, when families are in the countryside, due to the rain that falls regularly.
He made it known that more than 5k inhabitants live in the commune of Jamba Cueio, mostly peasants, who dedicate themselves to the cultivation of pennisetum glaucum, Sorghum and corn.
