Huambo - The national coordinator for Forestry Services of the US Department of Agriculture, Érica Tavares, Wednesday expressed interest in providing technical support to the Angolan government in carrying out the next forest inventory.
Erica Tavares was speaking at the end of a seminar to build capacity and collect ideas about the situation of forests in Angola, held on 28 and 29 of this month, which was attended by technicians from the Forestry Development Institute (IDF) from the country's 18 provinces, as well as environmentalists and researchers.
According to Erica Tavares, the United States began the process of national coordination of the work, with a view to providing technical support to the Forestry Development Institute (IDF), in order to structure a programme for the continuation of forest inventory in Angola.
He said the seminar served to establish communication with different forestry sectors and stakeholders in the country and at the same time addressed the challenges of the last forestry inventory in Angola, which began in 2002, with the aim of jointly analysing the next steps for the project's continuation.
