Ondjiva - The Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao, said Wednesday in Cunene Province that his country plans to cooperate with this southern region of the Angolan state in the sector of agriculture.
The diplomat made this statement at the 11 de Novembero Airport, in Ondjiva City, where he was received by the deputy governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure of Cunene, António Matias.
Gong Tao is paying a two-day working visit to Cunene with the aim of checking local projects with the provincial government, as well as to see the reality of the region.
The diplomat stressed that he is aware that the Angolan government is making large investments in projects to combat drought, with the participation of Chinese companies, pointing out that the visit to the projects would make it possible to see the possibilities in order to support the province for its social and economic development.
Before going to the locality of Cafu, Gong Tao was received in an audience at the provincial palace granted by the acting governor of Cunene, Apolo Ndinoulenga, who was accompanied by the secretary of State for Water, Manuel Quintino.
On the arrival of the Chinese ambassador to Angola, they went to see the flood waters in Ondjiva city.
This is the first visit of the Chinese ambassador, Gong Tao, to Cunene since he took office in Angola in 2019.
