Luanda - The official opening of the 2024/2025 agricultural campaign takes place on Oct 11, in the municipality of Dembos, Province of Bengo, in an event to be chaired by the minister of Agriculture and Forests, António de Assis.
According to a note from the Agriculture Ministry, which reached ANGOP on Thursday, the event will have several moments, the highlight being the launching of the sowing in the land.
Technical demonstrations of the use and handling of small agricultural mechanization equipment, soil correction, visits to field schools, a fair to display materials and machines are expected, in addition to the delivery of inputs to farmers.
The Agrarian Development Support Fund (FADA) will deliver mechanization equipment, as a result of the financing that the institution has made available to producers.
For the current agricultural season, the country's capital, Luanda, has prepared an area of more than 40 thousand hectares for the cultivation of various products, with emphasis on rice and soybeans, in a campaign that will involve more than 86 thousand families.
During the 2023/2024 agricultural campaign, the agriculture sector grew 6.6%, representing a 1% increase, compared to the previous year (2022/2023) in which it reached 5.6/.
