Porto Amboim – The Agrolider farm in Porto Amboim, Cuanza-Sul province, recorded a loss of over two million US dollars this season, with the destruction of agricultural crops caused by the intense rains that have fallen on this locality in recent months.
According to the owner of that farm, José Macedo, in four years of production, there has never been as much rain as has been recorded since last November to date, a fact that has caused losses estimated at more than two million dollars of the farm's total production. .
Speaking to ANGOP, the farmer said that the agricultural field has a variety of 30 crops, with emphasis on the production of watermelon, melon, cantaloupe, pitaya, grapes, mango, onion, tomato, garlic, among others.
He said that, despite the losses recorded, the farm has recorded a harvest of 1,300 tons/month for each crop, which are sent to the national market and for export.
The farm has a production of 10 hectares of pitaya, 50 hectares of vines (grapes), 10 hectares of pineapple, among other productions, with an average of 40 thousand plants per hectare.
José Macedo also mentioned that the soils for the production of 20 hectares of cocoa and an equal amount of Amboim Robusta coffee and sunflower are in the testing phase. In total, the farm has between six thousand and 10 thousand hectares, in Porto Amboim.
In addition to the agricultural sector, Agrolider also operates the livestock sector, with 370 goats and 309 heads of cattle that are used for meat production.
By the way, the municipal administrator of Porto Amboim, Maria Sumano, who visited the aforementioned farm, highlighted that it is a partner company of the State, which in the social sphere has contributed to the good of the communities. LC/QCB/DOJ
