Ndalatando – The northern province of Cuanza-Norte is expected to harvest at least 838,555 tons of various agricultural products in the 2024/25 campaign, in an area of more than 90k hectares.
Data from the provincial office for agriculture and fisheries, regarding the 2024/25 agricultural campaign, the opening of which is scheduled for the 16th of this month, indicate an increase in production with the preparation of 6k hectares mechanized and 86,406 manually.
The participation and support of more than 26 thousand families is expected, in programs such as Promotion and Strengthening the Resilience of Family Farmers (SREP).
According to the document, the 2024/25 campaign will provide, in greater depth through field schools, technical assistance to associations, cooperatives and small farmers, training of peasants and community leaders.
The focus on these groups aims to encourage them and introduce them to another form of cultivation to increase production and productivity, as well as promoting the cultivation of rice, pennisetum glaucum and Sorghum.
The distribution of seeds, fertilizers, agricultural instruments, small equipment and other inputs is also planned.
However, in the last agricultural campaign the province expected the production of 600 tons of products such as cassava, peanuts, beans and corn, with the participation of 32 thousand families.
