Ndalatando - One million and 800 thousand juvenile fish were produced in the first half of this year at the Mucoso Dairy Center, in Cambambe, in the province of Cuanza-Norte.
Speaking to the press, the head of the Mucoso Farming Center, António Escorcio, informed that the institution has a production capacity of two million juvenile fish/year and has 19 employees.
António Escorcio said that a kilo of 250-gram juvenile fish costs 2,000 kwanzas, a fact that has attracted many producers from the provinces of Luanda and Malanje.
The head of the Cuanza Norte provincial department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Patrício Constantino, praised the expansion of tilapia farming, in tanks, in the municipalities of Banga, Samba Cajú, Cazengo and Lucala, in addition to the traditional municipality of Cambambe.
He informed that this activity has helped in the empowerment of young people, as well as in the fight against hunger and poverty in families.
Opened in 2015, the Mucoso Laviculture Center has a capacity for two million juvenile fishes per year.
In the last two years, the institution has reached a maximum capacity of 320 million juvenile fishes, increasing the production capacity of aquaculture farmers in the country. EFM/IMA/ASS/DOJ
