Luanda - More than 15,000 tons of rice has been harvested in the current agricultural campaign in Luquembo municipality, Malanje province, an initiative of the Carrinho Agri business group, ANGOP has learnt.
According to the municipal director of Agriculture, Farm and Fisheries, Eduardo Tadeu, the harvest is the result of the hard work of peasant families benefiting from the program to massively re-launch rice production.
According to the official, the business group has been buying tons of various products from small producers, contributing to self-sufficiency in the national market.
He added that the company has also been supplying improved seeds, agricultural tools, fertilizers and technical training to farmers on credit with no associated interest rate.
Rice production in Luquembo is an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, in collaboration with the municipal administration, with the aim of promoting cereal production in the town.
