Ondjiva – Peasants from the province of Cunene defended on Monday, in Ondjiva, the reinforcement of seed distribution to cover production needs in the region.
For the current agricultural campaign, the local government made available a total of 845 tons of different seeds, quantities considered insufficient by farmers for the sowing phase.
Speaking to ANGOP, farmers Vital Hsinawa, Rosalina Mualundilange and Laureano Mutilifa agreed on the need for more seeds, in order to continue their work and take advantage of the rains that have fallen regularly in recent days in the province.
The head of the agrarian development institute (IDA), Américo Paciência, said that the 1st phase of seed distribution is being completed so that they can later be delivered to producers under these conditions.
The province of Cunene has prepared 302,572 hectares of arable land for the 2025 agricultural season and is expected to harvest 271, 369 tons of several products.
