Lobito – At least 110 tons of fertilizers of the 24/12/12 type on Saturday in the municipality of Lobito, Benguela province were delivered to small farmers and cooperatives aiming to support their agricultural production, ANGOP has learned.
According to the technician from the Agriculture, Farming and Fisheries Office, Madalena Ventura, farmers also received corn, bean and massambala seeds.
She informed that there are seven cooperatives in the commune of Canjala, eight in Egypt Praia and Culango.
Regarding individual numbers, there are 112 farmers in Canjala and Culango, 122 in Egypt Praia, while the green belt in the neighborhood of Luz and Cubaia has 133.
Although she did not specify the agricultural perimeter cultivated in the municipality, the official said that the office controls 3,000 farms, including some of which are out of operation.
“The intention is to surpass the previous agricultural season, in which 161,000 tons of various products were produced,” she stated.
Regarding constraints, transport difficulties stand out in reaching areas that are difficult to access and flow production.
In turn, the beneficiaries were satisfied and encouraged the Angolan Government to undertake reforms to increase local production.
