Cuito - Nine hundred and fifty tons of fertilizers, of the nine thousand five hundred planned to support peasants in the 2024/2025 agricultural year, are already in the city of Cuito, Bié province.
He was speaking at the 2nd ordinary meeting of the Provincial Council for the Consultation of Communities, led by governor Celeste Elavoko Adolfo.
In addition to fertilizers, more than 1,000 tons of corn, beans, wheat, rice, vegetables and other seeds are also available for the more than 400,000 hectares.
At the occasion, the governor, Celeste Adolfo, highlighted that the Government continues to create the conditions for inputs to reach peasant families in a timely manner.
With an area of about four million 218,840 hectares of fertile land, in the 2024/2025 agricultural campaign, which opens on September 14th this year, Bié expects to cultivate close to 480,000 hectares.
In the agricultural season that ended, the province harvested 172,000 tons of reindeer potatoes, 70,000 tons of beans, 381,000 tons of corn, 10,000 tons of wheat, 76,000 tons of rice, 55,000 tons of sweet potatoes, as well as 411,000 tons of cassava, among other field products. JEC/BAN/MS/MRA/DOJ
