Malanje- Five thousand trees of orange, lemon, tangerine, papaya, passion fruit and banana are being distributed to 500 families in the municipality of Calandula, for fruit growing promotion.
With the initiative, the aim is to change the paradigm of family farming in the district, predominantly focused on the production of tubers and cereals.
The information was provided today by the municipal administrator of Calandula, Mateus Vunge, noting that the strategy is part of the Integrated Plan for Local Development and Combating Poverty (PIDLCP).
He assured that monitoring actions are being developed, so that the goals set by the Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women are fulfilled.
In addition to the agricultural aspect, he said that with PIDLCP funds, they are building three pigsties and a pen, which will also be given to some families with their animals, to encourage the raising of goats and pigs.
He recalled that, in 2023, the Integrated Plan for Local Development and Combating Poverty assisted five thousand families in different sectors.
With an area of seven thousand and 37 square kilometers and 90 thousand inhabitants, the municipality of Calandula is 85 kilometers west of the city of Malanje and comprises the municipalities of Cota, Cuale, Kinje and Cateco-Cangola. ACC/PBC/DOJ
