Manuel Nunes Júnior
Born on 6 December 1961, in Benguela province, Manuel Nunes Júnior graduated in Economics from Universidade Agostinho Neto (UAN), at the age of 23, obtained a Master’s degree from the University of Essex and a doctorate from York University, United Kingdom.
His doctoral thesis, titled “Public Finance and Economic Growth”, earned him a distinction from this prestigious British university, widely known for its strong reputation concerning academic research.
He was director of the Faculty of Economics at the Universidade Agostinho Neto (1986-1991) and CEO of the Empresa Nacional de Exploração de Aeroportos e Navegação Aérea (ENANA), from 1999 to 2002.
An Associate Professor at Universidade Agostinho Neto, Manuel Júnior headed the team that drafted the ruling MPLA Governing Programme, from 2009 to 2012.
In 2003 he was appointed deputy minister of Finance and is currently the secretary of the MPLA Politburo for Political and Economic Affairs.
