Praia - Angola’s flag carrier airline TAAG has announced plans to provide a Boeing 737-700 to its Cabo Verde TACV counterpart, as part of an agreement between the two companies, the Angolan minister of Transport Ricardo de Abreu has announced.
Speaking to the press at the end of the 8th Angola-Cabo Verde Joint Commission Meeting, held in Praia city, Cabo Verde, the minister added that the move follows a leasing agreement between the two airlines.
He said that the intention is to provide Cabo Verde with capacity to respond to the regional and international demand.
“We want to ensure a long-lasting marriage. We are committed to ensuring the operational capacity of both companies and achieve the commitment undertaken”, he said.
On the other hand, the minister assured that TAAG would resume soon its services in the Cabo Verdean market, but he did not add further details.
“More important than the air connections is to ensure that the two companies have the operational capacity to meet the desires and needs of their peoples”, he said.
As for the state visit of the Angolan President João Lourenço to Cabo Verde, the programme includes the signing of a “Bilateral Agreement on Air Services” and a “Memorandum of Understanding on air transport between the Ministry of Transport of Angola and the Ministry of Tourism and Transport of Cabo Verde”.
The signing of a "Memorandum of Technical Cooperation between the National Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Angola (ANAC) and the Civil Aviation Agency of Cabo Verde" is also part of the visiting agenda of the President João Lourenço.
