Huambo- At least 200 students aged between six and 15 years old, from the municipalities of Caála and Huambo, will get their cards soon from the government “GiraMais” project, which gives them free access to public transport.

This is the first phase to be implemented in the province of Huambo, of the project of the National Integrated Ticketing Company (ENBI) assigned to the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Agency (AGTT), which launched this service in 2023, with the aim to significantly improve student mobility in accessing school institutions.

Speaking to ANGOP, oin Friday, on the sidelines of the start of operations of this system and launch of the social card, the regional director of ENBI, Octávio João, said that the process will begin with the registration of students from initiation to 9th class enrolled in public schools.

He added that the registration process begins within a few days, with dialogue with parents and guardians, and beneficiaries will present a copy of their Identity Card or card, a passport-sized photograph and one thousand Kwanzas, with the right to 60 free trips.

Octávio João explained that in Huambo the program will have, in the first phase, 75 buses.

For his part, the vice-governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector of the province of Huambo, Angelino Elavoco, highlighted that access to social passes is an initiative of the Executive, within the framework of measures aimed at income distribution and redistribution policies national.

He said it is an innovative project that will contribute to expanding the supply of public transport for students, former combatants and other more vulnerable sectors in the province of Huambo.
